Release date: 2022-09-17 Migration time: 2026-03-21

1 Problem description

I was playing an old domestic game and used the Xiaomi|Good Helper script to hang up. One day, I suddenly found that pressing the home button could not bring up the script. The game software interface also seemed to be stuck, and I could not control the characters with the mouse. This is more interesting.

After a series of investigations, it was found that the problem was with the Microsoft Pinyin input method that comes with the Windows 10 system. I can’t complain about the frequent forced updates of Windows 10. The latest version update should involve the input method, causing compatibility issues with some software plug-ins.

2 Solution

(1) Set the compatibility of Microsoft Pinyin input method and turn on the "Use previous version of Microsoft Pinyin input method" option. See the figure below for specific operations: Right-click the "中" character in Microsoft Input Method -> Settings -> General -> Compatibility.

(2) In addition to setting the compatibility of Microsoft input method, you can also solve the above problem by installing a third-party input method, such as Sogou Pinyin, Sogou Wubi, etc., and then setting the third-party input method as the default/preferred input method.

Note: The problem of Microsoft Pinyin input method compatibility causing abnormal functions of third-party software and plug-ins only appeared with the recent update of the Windows 10 system. In addition to the above-mentioned game plug-ins I discovered, it is currently unknown whether they may also have the same compatibility issues with some office or financial software plug-ins. To sum up, for the sake of safety, setting up Microsoft input method compatibility or installing third-party input methods should be included in the daily optimization work of win10.
