Turn off the "A new version of Chrome is available" update prompt message in the upper right corner of Google Chrome

It is still a bit difficult to update Google Chrome online in China, so the update prompt message "A new version of Chrome is available" (see Figure 1 below), and even an entire update service module in the browser seem a bit redundant. If you are too busy or have some obsessive-compulsive disorder, you can try turning it off. . .

The specific settings are as follows:

Win+R, regedit, open the registry editor, and expand the paths in sequence:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome

If there is no Google after expanding to the "Policies" registry key, right-click to create a new "key" and name it "Google", and then create a new "Chrome" key under the "Google" key.

Create a new DWORD (32-bit) registry key value under the "Chrome" registry key, name it "AutoUpdateCheckPeriodMinutes", and fill in "0" for the numerical data, as shown in Figure 2 below:

Save and exit the Registry Editor, restart Google Chrome, and the new version update reminder message in the upper right corner has disappeared.
